About the Role
ORCA Rehab is a leading inpatient rehabilitation and pain management group serving Southern California. We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our financial operations and help maintain strong standards of fiscal integrity, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist with the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow statements.
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations.
- Analyze weekly and monthly collections by provider.
- Review accounts receivable, collections, and billing activity.
- Provide financial analysis and modeling to support leadership decisions regarding practice profitability and expense management.
- Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions.
- Prepare cash-to-accrual monthly journal entries.
Tax & Compliance
- Assist with payroll tax obligations and help ensure accurate and timely federal and state filings.
- Support compliance with applicable business, financial, and healthcare regulations.
- Assist internal and external auditors and help maintain accurate, audit-ready financial records.
Revenue Cycle Support
- Analyze Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) activity to identify trends in claim denials and opportunities to improve collections.
- Work with the Finance Manager to help ensure medical billing and insurance reimbursements are processed accurately according to contract terms.
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant handling of financial and patient billing information.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, or equivalent applicable experience.
Certification
- Active California CPA certification is preferred.
Experience
- 2+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience preferred, ideally within healthcare or rehabilitation.
- Accounting: 3 years preferred.
- QuickBooks Online: 2 years preferred.
- Payroll management: 2 years preferred.
- Bookkeeping: 2 years preferred.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online or Sage.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $70,000–$85,000 per year
- Employment: Full-time W-2
